mazel tov

this is my first week after leaving my job of two years. i'm trying to be disciplined and make the best use of my time. i took a break in the evening to w hip up some matzo ball soup. this was my first time making it, and it turned out quite yummy and perfect for the chilly weather.

Vegas Lights

a brief trip to vegas for a lighting convention was interesting and inspiring, feeding my latest obsession with leds. curtains, strings, balls, cylinders, squares of leds were among some of the products that translated video feeds to blinking lights. nothing i could afford, but wanted all for possible projects...

color kinetics hosted a tour of the wynn hotel where we watched a show in the interior of the hotel over a wall and pool of water.

i bought a couple of these from captain cactus. you can find him at the long beach farmer's market on sunday mornings near the marina. the little buds pop off and start growing another plant.

i played with art clay today. it's a lot quicker than lost wax.

mike & i went to see the science of sleep, michel gondry's latest film, yesterday. i loved all the stop motion animation and lo-tech look, but it made me a little depressed to think about dreams being richer than reality and left me wondering where the wonder of an overactive imagination fits into every day life.

on sept 21, we saw andrew bird live at the musicbox. another playful artist bringing a little bit of magic into this life. our space up close and all the people and my low blood pressure proved to be too much, and i had one of my fainting spells. i had this hope that maybe they would take me back stage, and i would get to meet andrew bird who appreciated that i risked a concussion so i could watch him play, but no such luck.
