despite the tourist-infested locale, the oyster bar & restaurant at grand central station in midtown was highly recommended for the oysters on the half shell by chowhounders. mike, like many people, is not so into oysters due to the slimey, briny factor. not me. i love oysters, which are best in months ending in -er. and being decembER, we had to go for lunch.

the oysters were tasty. we shared some scallops, which were not bad, but nothing special. i had the saffron fish soup, which was a little too salty, in lieu of the clam chowder.
