phoebe visits sf

my energetic friend phoebe was in the bay area the last week and a half, so i caught up with her this weekend. some six or so years have passed since i last saw her. she went off to japan for her masters, then korea, then england, where her mom is from originally and where she picked up a phd.

she hasn't lost much steam in the time that has passed, and looks the same. it was nice to discover that aliens had not snatched her body, and she was a lot of fun to hang out. we went to an anarchist book fair, which made me a little nostalgic for the days long ago when my impressionable mind embraced the ideals of emma goldman. it's refreshing that phoebe is so zealous as to stimulate dialogue.

i picked up three books that looked intriguing: the omnivore's dilemma by michael pollan, all about love by bell hooks, and deep economy by bill mckibben. i know it may be some time before i get to one of these books, but i figure i could squeeze in a little after knitting.
